The U.S. Welfare System: Oppression at Its Finest

The welfare system is often conveyed as a system designed to temporarily assist people when they can no longer assist themselves. However without the proper policies and procedures welfare can easily become a lifestyle for some people.
It is my opinion that the government does not want African Americans to get off the welfare system because it is beneficial to them. With a vast majority of African Americans on welfare they can be easily monitored and maintained. When the government controls the resources accessible by African Americans they essentially control their upward mobility as well.
It has been proven that African Americans with limited resources are less likely to go to college or enter into a lifestyle that is above what they've come from. This phenomenon has been studied for decades and yet the welfare program has not been reformed. It appears that the government is content with the status of African Americans.
Without the proper knowledge and understanding about this form of governmental control African Americans will not be able to escape this form of oppression.
